This is Swimmy, my daughter Liberty's turtle, who lives with me and my wife in Idaho.
He is a red-eared slider, over 30 years old. I bought him from a Chinese street vendor
with a basin full of newly hatched turtles on the sidewalk in front of a Woolworth store
in Washington Heights, (northern) Manhattan, New York City in 1995.
